Equifax User Guide

IDENTIFICATION SECTION:

  • Subject and co-subject/spouse.
  • Date file was established.
  • Date of last activity on file.
  • Current address, origin and date added to file.
  • Former address.
  • Second former address.
  • AKA or name subject is also known as.
  • Date of birth (yyyy/mm/dd). SIN will only display here if provided on input and matches with information on file.
  • Phone number, phone extension, phone type, date first reported & date last received.
  • Driver’s License number, province issuer and expiry date.
  • Passport Number, country issuer and expiry date.

SUMMARY SECTION (provides synopsis of file items):

  • Oldest Opening date of trade.
  • Newest reporting date of trade.
  • Number of public record items or other information on file.
  • Number of trades on file.
  • High credit range of trades on file.
  • Ratings of trades on file.

INQUIRIES SECTION:

  • #INQS – Total number of inquiries since file established.
  • INQS – Alert appears if three or more inquiries within past 90 days.
  • Date, member name and telephone for inquiries in the past 36 months.
  • Locates.

EMPLOYMENT SECTION:

  • ES (employment subject) Position, firm, location, date employed, date verified, monthly salary.
  • EF (employment former) Position, firm, location, date employed, date verified, date left.
  • E2 (employment second former) Position, firm, location.
  • EC (employment spouse) Position, firm, location, date employed, date verified. No spousal information provided in Quebec.

OTHER INCOME:

  • Date reported.
  • Monthly income amount.
  • Company name or source of the income.
  • Date verified.

PUBLIC RECORDS AND OTHER INFORMATION:

BANKRUPTCIES:

a person legally declared to be unable to pay debts.

  • Date filed.
  • Type of action.
  • Court code.
  • Case number and trustee.
  • Liability.
  • Assets.
  • Filer (subject, spouse or both).
  • Type of bankruptcy (IND for personal; BUS for business).
  • Additional information.

THIRD PARTY COLLECTIONS:

A debt which a creditor is unable to collect and hires a third party to do so.

  • Reported date.
  • Type of collection (UP CL – unpaid collection or PD – paid collection).
  • Name of third party collection agency.
  • Original amount of collection. Industry classification (creditor).
  • Branch and company (creditor).
  • Date of last activity.
  • Balance as of date reported.
  • Additional information.

SECURED LOANS:

A chattel mortgage, registered loan, or registered lien is a loan where the debtor has given personal property as collateral and the loan is registered with the provincial government. This is not derogatory information. (Secured loans are not extended in the province of Quebec.)

  • Date reported.
  • Type of account.
  • Name of reporting government agency. Industry type of creditor.
  • Case number, name and address of creditor.
  • Amount of loan.
  • Maturity date.
  • Additional information.

JUDGEMENTS:

A court order against a debtor for payment of monies owing.

  • Date judgement granted or date filed.
  • Judgement status (ST JD – satisfied judgement, JD GT – judgement).
  • Court identification number/name of court.
  • Amount of judgement.
  • Defendant.
  • Judgement number.
  • Plaintiff.
  • Status of judgement (satisfied, unsatisfied or disposition unknown) and date, when applicable.
  • Additional information.

DEBT NON-RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Date reported.
  • Person filing notice.
  • Additional information.

DIVORCE ACTION:

  • Date that the action was filed with the court.
  • Action that was filed with the court.
  • Court identification number/name of court.
  • The case number that was assigned by the court.
  • Full name of the spouse with whom the action is filed.
  • Additional information. Narrative information pertaining to the action.

GARNISHMENTS:

  • Date that the garnishment was filed with the court.
  • Court identification number/name of court.
  • Amount of the garnishment.
  • The name of the defendant (the person whom the action is against).
  • The case number that was assigned by the court.
  • The name of the plaintiff (usually a financial institution).
  • The name of the garnishee (usually the subject’s employer).
  • Additional information. Narrative information pertaining to the lien.

TRADE INFORMATION SECTION:

  • Bus ID/Mbr# – Member name and telephone, * member number.
  • * Indicates the information was updated by an accounts receivable tape.
  • DtRptd – Date Reported, identifies the “as at” date or date that the item was last reported to Equifax.
  • DtOpnd – Date account was opened with credit grantor.
  • DtLastAct – Date of Last Activity, most recent date on which the consumer took an action on the account (ex: payment, purchase, cash advance).
  • 2/3/4+ – Summary of derogatory payments.
  • TR – Times Reported, the number of times the account was reported to Equifax.
  • RT – Portfolio type, payment or condition code used to identify the status of the account.
  • CredLmt – Credit Limit, the maximum amount of credit available on an account.
  • HighCred – High Credit, the original amount of the loan or the highest balance ever attained.
  • Balance – The amount owing at the time of reporting.
  • PmtAmt – The contractual Payment Amount that the consumer is expected to pay for the cycle being reported.
  • PastDueAmt – The amount the account is past due based upon the contractual repayment agreement.
  • WrtnOffAmt – Written Off Amount, the amount written off by the Credit Grantor.
  • ActPmtAmt – Actual Payment Amount, the actual amount paid, which could be less than equal to or greater than the payment amount.
  • DtClosed – The date an account was closed by the Credit Grantor or Consumer.
  • DtFrstDelq – Date of the first delinquency that led to the status of the account.
  • Member#/Id – Member Number Identifier. Branch, transit or product code associated to the customer.
  • Prev Member#/Id – Previous Member Number Identifier. Branch, transit or product code associated to the customer.
  • Account # – Current Account Number, sequence of alpha/numeric values assigned by the customer to relate or connect to a consumer(s).
  • Prev Account # – Previous Account Number, sequence of alpha/numeric values assigned by the customer previously used to relate or connect to a consumer(s).
  • Association Code – Defines the relationship between the consumer and the account.
  • Account Type – Further describes the type of account.
  • Freeze Indicator – Identifies an account that cannot be updated and why.
  • Comments – Additional information related to the account.
  • Payment Profile – Historical record of the manner of payment.
  • Rate – Portfolio type, payment or condition code used to identify the status of the account.
  • Payment Frequency – Period in which the Payment Amount is due.

MEMBER TRADES:

  • Member number/name/telephone.
  • * Indicates the information was updated by an accounts receivable tape.
  • O – Owner.
  • RPTD – Date item last reported to Equifax.
  • OPND – Date account was opened with credit grantor.
  • H/C – High credit on the account; the highest amount owed or credit limit.
  • TRMS – Monthly payment amount.
  • BAL – Balance owing as of date reported.
  • P/D – Amount past due as of date reported (shown if applicable).
  • RATE – Types of accounts and manner of payments.
  • 30/60/90 – Number of times the account was 30/60/90+ days late.
  • MR – Number of times a credit grantor reported on account.
  • DLA – Date of last activity on the account.
  • Previous high rates. Dates of three highest, most recent delinquencies.
  • Account number.
  • Additional information.

NON-MEMBER TRADES:

  • RPTD – Date item last reported to Equifax.
  • OPND – Date account was opened with credit grantor.
  • H/C – High credit on the account; the highest amount owed or credit limit.
  • BAL – Balance owing as of date reported.
  • P/D – Amount past due as of date reported (shown if applicable).
  • RATE – Types of accounts and manner of payments.

BANKING SECTION:

  • Company name and telephone number.
  • Date item was reported to Equifax.
  • Type of account.
  • Customer’s member number.

  • Balance of account (approximate range).
